leverage and scale
My interest in this profession sparked by leveraging technology to scale information delivery.
I entered into this profession by utilizing technology to deliver meaningful information to a large population. My initial experience utilized technology to scale health related information that replaced a one-on-one 1 hour in-person course. After combining technology and learning psychology to design a successful learning module, the information now has been viewed over 25,000 times. In other words, I leveraged technology to scale information that has now produced the same efficacy of 3,125 working days at a fraction of the cost, time, and effort.
I now know the power of information delivery when presented correctly. Each delivery of information must be custom tailored through an understanding of learning psychology and learner demographics. Concepts such as self-navigation, timing, and relevance are all fundamental learning principles incorporated into every learning experience. Combine Learning and Development with Project Management experience, work productivity principles such as Lean 5, DMAIC, and the soft skills to bridge silos and consistent successful deliverables are produced.
In addition, identifying the appropriate type of training for the transfer of knowledge, skills and abilities is a science. Teaching someone to ride a bicycle from a book is less effective than instructing the individual in a few key principles and then having them perform the task. In the same regard, making an interactive course for general awareness is overkill and reduces learner engagement.
Have you ever wondered why your employees aren't doing what they know they should be doing? Simulating context has been shown to improve conviction. Not all performance problems arise from a lack of knowledge. We all know not to go 40mph in a 30mph zone, but the conviction to do so often requires a simulation of consequence. High-stakes safety concerns and compliance benefit from a context simulation to produce desired behaviors.
program development and tracking
Program development and implementation of enterprise scale tracking.
Employee retirement and turnover are key problems that many organizations face in today's market. My experience in Learning and Development includes creating and implementing enterprise scale programs for issues such as compliance reporting, employee development, and mission critical employee tracking. These programs required collaboration with Director level stakeholders and have been implemented enterprise wide to reduce single points of failure and provide a robust organizational health during times of employee turnover.
